To the Saints of Alliance United Methodist Church,

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!

I am honored, humbled, and excited to be appointed as your next Senior Pastor: honored to be appointed to such a great church as Alliance UMC; humbled that I've been appointed to such a great responsibility; and excited about making new friends in Christ and living in Texas!

Last August (2016), I retired from the military after 21 years of Extension Ministry as an Army Chaplain. What a ride! To serve both God and country has been a wonderful blessing. I am thankful to the South Georgia bishops who graciously appointed me to Mount Olivet UMC upon my transition from the Army. This appointment allowed my family to remain in the Fort Stewart area and enjoy John's senior year of high school. Having moved 11 times in the last 19 years, it was a godsend to stay in Georgia so John could graduate with his classmates, plus it gave me a wonderful opportunity to serve in a godly UM church again before returning to Texas.

Holly and I will be empty nesters as we transition back to Texas. John will be attending Texas A&M in the fall and our oldest son, Thomas, works in Arlington. Holly, a certified Math and Science teacher, will be working part-time as a S.T.E.M. Instructor at iFLY in Fort Worth.

I have some "big shoes to fill" in following the wonderful ministry of Jim McClurg.  I am so thankful for his pastoral leadership and the legacy he leaves at Alliance UMC. May God bless this season of transition for you, the McClurg's and the Killough's! Holly and I look forward to meeting you and sharing this journey of faith. Exciting days are ahead and I look forward to experiencing them together with you.

Please know that regardless of the season or transition, Jesus is Lord and never changes! I am called to preach and teach the Gospel of Christ, to equip the saints and provide a ministry of presence to those in the "foxholes of life". I praise God to be appointed as your Senior Pastor and look forward to sharing this walk of faith in Christ with you as fellow Soldiers of the Cross.

Lord, grant us success! -Psalm 118:25

In Christ,

+Bill
