CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers Needed: Each year, in Tarrant County, thousands of children become victims of child abuse and neglect. These children experience terrible trauma, and their lives are turned upside down. Child Protective Services takes legal responsibility for them and may place them in foster homes or other facilities. Because foster homes are short in supply, siblings are often split up. Children are rarely able to stay in their own schools, day cares, or communities. Everything they had known and trusted is gone. Through no fault of their own, these abused children have become a part of an overburdened child welfare system. They deserve a voice in the courtroom. They need a CASA volunteer!
Currently, CASA of Tarrant County has over 350 active volunteers who come from all walks of life and span an age range from young college students to older retirees. After 15 hours of training, volunteers are sworn in and ready to help ONE CHILD, spending only about 10-12 hours per month for a 12-18 month commitment.
